Reward System For Weight Loss


One things that I decided to do at the beginning of my journey to getting fit is setting up a reward system for every 5 pounds I lost. The rewards start out with things like; flowers, nail polish, etc. and move into bigger things like a new handbag, tattoo or bathing suit. It's the first time I'm trying out a weight loss reward system and I'm really liking it so far.
When you have a lot of weight you want to lose or a big goal like running a marathon it can seem so frustrating in the beginning, setting up mini goals and then rewarding yourself with something once you reach them makes you even more excited for your progress and less likely to give up.
Obviously, you need to choose things you can afford but make your final goal weight reward something that's a pretty big splurge, something you wouldn't normally buy for yourself and not something you really need that you'll probably get eventually anyway. I'm also adding rewards for after I reach my goal weight every month that I maintain for a year. Maintaining my weight loss is my biggest challenge so it'll be nice to have something to keep me motivated so I don't feel like I'm "done".

  1. ooohhh! I've actually never tried this but it seems like something I would totally want to do. Can't we just make them all new tattoos? That would be rad.. haha. I should give this a whirl. I, like you, have a hard time maintaining after I lose what I have set out to. So this would be a good way to keep working at it.

    1. A couple of days into my diet I decided to do it. But I didn't give myself any rewards until I hit my first 10lbs down a couple days ago. 5lbs just didn't feel like much (it was probably mostly water weight anyway) but you can't argue with 10!

  4. I love this! I did this for quitting smoking and it was a lovely topper onto the obvious health benefits, etc. That said, now I have to do it for the weight gain, ha! Going to keep on with this method. Presents = huge motivator.

  5. This is an amazing idea, I had one like this for exams but I think in future I'll try to give myself rewards at each little milestone rather than at the end so it's more managable. Love your blog x

  8. This is a really great idea. I have never thought to do this, but it makes total sense and sounds very inspiring. I have started small (with just cutting out caffeine and eating better) and this idea encourages me to keep going. Thanks!

  9. Such a good idea! That would definitely give me motivation to keep going with the weight loss. I'm planning on starting back up my "healthy" routine sometime within the next few weeks and something like this would keep me on track. Thanks for sharing!

I've had your b&a picture from 7:59 since I started my weight loss journey and used you as a big inspiration & Fat Burners, since you remind me so much of myself when I was younger. I was always the overweight girl and I completely relate to everything you've said. I've lost just about 50 pounds so far with 30 more to go until I'm at my ideal weight. I still have a long ways to go, but I feel so much better and healthier. Thank you for inspiring me and you look gorgeous!
